Star Wars ‘Cosmic Shells’ at Countdown

Post by MattG »

After teasing a Kylo Ren and Stormtrooper silhouette image on their Facebook page yesterday, the Countdown supermarket chain has today launched their “Cosmic Shell” promotion.

Starting tomorrow (August 4th) you get one Star Wars Cosmic Shell with every $20 spent in-store or online in a single transaction. The set consists of 36, featuring characters, planets and vehicles. The Shells can be used to play a board game (with a minimum of 8 shells between 2 players), collected and stored in an album ($8 at Countdown supermarkets), and eight shells which will play a holographic clip when scanned with the Countdown Cosmic Shells app.

More details are on the dedicated Countdown Star Wars Cosmic Shells page, and the associated merchandise can be viewed here.

I don't normally go for these sorts of things, but for $8 it's a pretty awesome deal. There's a poster included, and a several page booklet inside. I shop at Countdown anyway so the cards (um, "cosmic shells") will add up quickly.

I will be collecting.

We should keep a trade thread open once the promo ends so we can all swap among ourselves to complete our sets!

That is just typical, the one thing I wanted to collect and we are hardly shopping there at the moment, great.
Doomsday and Armageddon got together and had a baby and man is it ugly.

They are fairly abundant on TradeMe. I reckon it's possible to pick up 36 random Shells at about $1 each, then head to one of the swap meets at Countdown and trade them up to a full set.

Woot, first full set (thanks to significant contributions from friends and family, and even Juliet bringing home piles from school friends)
