Rey's Speeder (Hasbro, 3.75" scale)

Post by MattG »

At our meet-up yesterday, Fredstar bought around his TFA TIE Fighter and Snowspeeder, unboxed them, and built them up. It was really cool to see them in person, not having bought them yet myself...and I'm now a whole lot more tempted by both (for anyone interested, the TFA Spec Forces TIE has the same sized cockpit as most of the other Hasbro TIEs in this scale, but it wing panels are notably larger than the Vintage/POTF2 versions - smaller than the later large-winged TIEs though, obviously).

Anyway, it's prompted Kristy and I to do a bit of an online unboxing of Rey's Speeder, as it's exclusivity to Toyworld seems to have meant a few less people picked it up in their first round of purchasing.

From the start, I really like this packaging. Maybe it's the bright, full-bleed graphics...maybe it's the imminently stackable proportions of the box....not sure yet, but either way, I'm compelled to keep it for posterity.

The brown cardboard internal packaging isn't exciting, but notable is that the vehicle doesn't require any assembly (just has a separate missile to insert), so everything can go back in to both the internal and external packaging after taking it out, effectively as good as new (just not sealed).

I didn't buy as I thought it looked as though it was going to be a vehicle that isn't too prominent in the movie. But second look, it does look pretty cool, a lot tidier than the bendie X-wing that I have seen online. Must be the photographer of these pictures that make it look good. $50.00 at Toyworld right? May wait for a sale.

Hi Matt, what is the secret to doing photos like this?
Do you use a light box?

The photos in this thead are all taken using a pair of continuous (daylight/5500K) lights, against a curved "infinity"-style background (i.e., a big piece of sheet plastic). I've posted a little bit about my amateur techniques here: http://swnz.dr-maul.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=487

Just to finish up, here is Rey on her speeder. 5POA is not ideal for seating figures, obviously, so the driver here may get an update if re-released in a more articulated format down the line. In the meantime, we'll probably display her standing in front of the speeder, as shown a few posts back.
