Here's an interesting piece of news that was reported over at the Rebelscum boards, NZ collecting section by local collector stylie_steve.

After my constant emailing to Hasbro about the poor distribution of Star Wars in NZ my complaints have finally paid off.

They sent me through a list of all in stock cases they have so I took this list down to Toyworld and told them to order some of these products. Of course they told me they were on a no buy but could do a special customer order. So I told them to do that and low and behold today I received a phone call to inform me my case had arrived so I brought Cold Weather Anakin, Obi-Wan and Rex along with Bly, Stone, Firefighter Droid and the New MagnaGuard so that is 7 figures to cross of my list!

I suggest if you want new stock do this. Hasbro NZ has some good stuff in stock but the problem is no stores are ordering it and when they do restock it seems to always be with the same assortments.

If your interested in this list I can email it to you so you can take it to your local store and get them to order the product you are after.

Oh by the way if anyone is after Ahsoka's Starfighter Toyworld Balance St (Wellington) currently has one in stock.

So, as acerimmerrocks reported, it seems new figures are in the country but they are stuck in Hasbro's warehouse due to retailer reticence. It's great that they'll do orders on behalf though. This could be a service that many of us could avail ourselves of and in so doing send a message to these hesitant retailers that a market still exists for these toys.

No surprise there, but Hasbro really only have themselves to blame by continuing with the idiocy of "short-packing" some figures. It's simply stupid to send out cases with six of one figure, three of another, and only one of third. Shops just end up stuck with the excess figures they can't sell, so aren't interested in buying more. If they had any common sense, Hasbro would ship a case with one of each figure.

This and the silliness of "exclusives" are two of the reasons why I no longer bother buying the toys any more.

I couldn't agree more. Personally I've never been able to understand the marketing reasons behind doing this. I assume that all of the figures cost around the same to produce, so why not produce a higher number of popular figures than unpopular ones?

I've also corrected a typo (R3-A2 in the ESB wave is actually R2-X2 - R3-A2 being a BAD figure in the ANH wave) and clarified that one of the snowtroopers in that wave is the concept art version.
