#ahsokalives greaves wetmolding. I have since taken the tape off, wiped down the surface and trimmed the back seams. Next step is to let it dry fully and then wipe surface again.

Image
#ahsokalives greaves, here you can see how well the leather forms. One piece each leg. I used cold water so still a few chances to texture and fine texture it all.[/url]

Image
#ahsokalives chest plate part 1: stretching leather to eliminate all excess folds.

Image
#ahsokalives chest plate part 2: oil clay to shape on same form. This is too soft to form over directly so to the next step.

Image
#ahsokalives chest plate part 3: streched fabric over clay and resinned- no, not with epoxy just polyester. Just enough to left me stretch the leather over it. I'll use a flexible urethane on the resverse of the leather. Or contact cement. Hmmmmm...

Image
#ahsokalives I may or may not be able to do the last two panels tonight. But so much progress!

Image
#ahsokalives tooling done. Still need to do the bracers and of course line it all. I will use recycled leather on the back.

I keep putting this off as 'too hard" been a tough old last year so yeah. Mental blocks :0

So to ease my way back in I started to shape the last pieces of leather.

I am going to see if there is a fabric suggestion for her tunic as I have some me non stretch faux suede, stretch suede, and a matte finish fabric I used for Asajj that I think is a better option but may not be recognised as such. Well I know a lot of artists label material as leather that really is not, usually for fitted bodysuits. Ehem. Anyway, it's that disconnect between what a costume technician knows and what is generally "known."

Very, very cool work. I love seeing all the different aspects of creating a costume like this.

Nice forming with the leather, this reminds me of the work my mum & dad did back in the early 70's with bags, arm bands and watch bands plus belts.
The smell of leather always takes me back to those days.
Great work, it will be nice to see this one complete.
Doomsday and Armageddon got together and had a baby and man is it ugly.

Thank you :) IU wound up ruining the pieces above by using water that was far too hot. Since then I found a good guide as to a temperature that will help plasticise but not burn. So I 've been trying that :) One heavier grade leather :)

Today I'm going to be joining the lukku pieces to the montral

Sorry, I think youtube changed its sharing options- I have had trouble sharing on another foum too.
This is a short video showing how you can dremel latex seams :) I make my montral rigid as that's how they look, but try to make the lekku a lot more wiggly.

I have had to replace the set of montral. They could be reused by someone shorter than me.

Not so short people would care but I do :)

So I cut the neck off my older headcast and managed to tape her on to a mannequin

My neck is much longer, but I needed to set the chest height to match my chin. So. It's very weird looking.

So new lekku and new montral were assembled yesterday and hopefully I can get them done this week after all.

More russet has been procured for the greaves and everything now has a template :)

Actually very happy with the shape of the new lekku. I had, though, cut the face edge too far back initially so there is a bit of work to go to make it sit nicely. Also goofed and forgot to get all the supplies needed yesterday- but that nasty flu (I wound up on the floor coughing, quite literally) has left legs and arms a bit weak so another walk is good :)

Thank you :)

This and a few other projects have been marked by fail. But that is making them also incredibly valued because they have been so demanding! In other words I have no headpieces right now. None.

But that headcast on a mannequin and I also put my sculpting head form and Xmas tree leg support on the base of a turning stool:

The horns are another fail, good, fail, rince repeat costume

All of those headpieces are just not workable so I'm about to cast a new set. Today is sunny so it should work.
And an accidental extra purchace of russet is being used for the belt :) So some leather work today :)

Two coffees, two berrocca and three iron melts and this is much less daunting. To the studio!

The Batman theme tune just jumped into my head when I read that.
