With lvl-4 lockdown upon us in Auckland, I had some time to work on the Star Destroyer. A lot of time, but running out of supplies; modelling cement in particular. And need putty to start closing up joints so that I continue to detail the fuselage. Just a few more hours notice Jacinda would have been appreciated!
Anyway, some good progress has been made. The PVC foam board, which the main body is made from is an excellent sub straight however it marks and dents easily. I'm hoping those marks can be a/. covered up with putty, b/. covered over with weathering or c/. highlighted as crash marks with other imperial ships!
In researching the design, I discovered that there's an awful lot of variations to the Star Destroyer out there, even between Ep's IV and V. I'm getting inspiration from movie stills, the Randy Cooper model and a model that featured at the Where Science Meets Imagination' show in the States.
About to start working on the engine bay. There's a lot of angles in there. Should be either fun or frustrating.
