Headpiece to the Staff of Ra
Okay, since it was featured as an Easter egg in The Clone Wars – although, I can't remember where, sorry – and the fact Indiana Jones is another jewel in the Lucasfilm crown, it sort of fits in this section…
About five years back, I made a few screen-accurate headpieces to the Staff of Ra – from Raiders of the Lost Ark, of course – in bronze, from a mold that has lineage to an original, and one of these pieces found its way into Adam Savage's personal collection that sits behind his desk.
Given that 99.9 per cent of his collection is stored in his workshop-slash-cave, I was beyond stoked to learn he thought it was cool enough to have in his office.

This is the hero prop and not Marion's Aztec-esque piece that was used in one scene.
I made the chains that are seen on both, too, which are also screen-accurate.

That was brilliant. I sat thru the whole clip.
Amazing detailing on the headpiece, I wish he had spend more time talking about it.

Nah, bronze. I prefer it to brass, as it looks and feels a lot more authentic (and is way easier to work with, too).oota goota wrote:Was it cold cast brass?
The Tested channel is addictive, so be careful!Edward26 wrote:That was brilliant. I sat thru the whole clip.

Agreed! Bronze really is the only choice for this piece, but I have done some gold-plated alloy versions, too:

Currently, no… soon, though, I'm sure.
(It’s just hard to find the accurate materials to finish each piece, is all.)

When you do, can you put me down for one, Thanks.
I have also been looking on ebay for the angels for the ark of the covenant, I might have to make my own from reference shots on line possibly.

I know a guy with a set of bronze ones, made from the original holds, which are too cool!
