What the...? Gentle Giant is making 12" versions of the vintage 4" action figures...not the characters, the actual figures!? Starting with a stormtrooper as a ComicCon exclusive.

I'll be frank. I don't get it. This really feels like GG stretching to find viable product.
What a bizarre and incredibly niche notion. I can't help but think this is doomed to fail.

hmmm... strange indeed. Whilst a big fan of GG products in general, can't say we'd stock these in any great hurry. Be interesting to see if we get any orders for them.

I agree that it's a weird experiment, and that the market will likely be pretty small... but... I have to admit to being a little tempted as the Kenner Stormtrooper was my very first figure back in '78, and kicked off my subsequent decades long addiction.

As terrible as this idea seems, it doesn't seem half as bad as the absolute crap that is the Stormtrooper Super Shogun and the Star Wars Transformers line.

could be worse...........
someone could do a costume of the original 4" figures.
lol imagine Obi wan and Darth Vader with their big vinyl capes........
Hmmmm
perhaps I should add that to my to do list of costumes parodies.

I wasn't around when the original vintage figures came out, so they don't bring out any nostalgia, but I think it's a cute idea Not sure how much further they'll take the line - will be interesting if they plan to make the complete original set - I'd probably get a 12" vintage Leia

Considering that there have been wearable costumes of the characters from the Star Wars LEGO games, I'm surprised we haven't seen them yet.Deadalus Thorn wrote:could be worse...........

I did see someone do life-size versions of the simplified/under-detailed blasters once, and was prompted to draw up plans for a scaled up "Kenner E-11". And, I have to admit to having toyed with the idea of doing a life-sized version of the 1978 R2-D2, complete with two-dimensional printed sticker details.

do it!
it would be hardcase...........
Hmmmmmm I am seriously considering doing a 4" scale up for a laugh now.
only problem is the head on the face characters always seems really small on long necks.
