Fans of BB-8 may be aware of rumors about a rolling toy/collectible version available for purchase, and it looks like the first prototypes have been on display at a recent convention in the Philippines -

It's rumoured to cost around US$150 - but the chance at having my own rolling BB-8?

Far out that's quite big. Didn't think it would be that size. Was expecting it to be smaller.
Man I have got to get me one.

If it really is so competitively priced, then that could do very, very well. I wonder if we'll see them retail down here for less that NZ$400?

Re: BB-8 by Sphero
That is awesome! Way bigger than I expected too.
....I really really hope that BB-8 doesn't end up being the next Jar Jar.
The sceptic in me is struggling with the thought of a droid with personality successfully working along side r2 (outside of the animated stuff.)

Re: BB-8 by Sphero
Looking at what rolled on stage at Celebration, he's actually a fairly sizable droid. His sphere seems to be almost the diameter of R2's dome, perhaps 80% but no less. Like most people, It would appear, I imagined something more soccer-ball sized when I saw the trailer, but he's quite chunky it seems.

Dang, that's a sizable replica, and well worth the money if the pricing turns out to be accurate.
I was thinking it'd be a mini mini BB-8 - something closer to the size of Sphero's current RC unit - but this is huge!

Re: BB-8 by Sphero
Considering the technology required for BB-8's head to stay up, I was also expecting something smaller for the rumoured US$150 price tag, so seeing these pics is very exciting Can't wait to find out the release date and finalized price

Wonder if that's just a promotional prop? ie much larger than the toy will be?
