With the old EU relegated to "Legend" status, the announcement of the new line of books from Del Rey/Disney Publishing today has blown my mind a bit...I think I'm going to have to be keeping up with these a lot more, given the extent to which they tie in the the overall canon.

Interesting that one of the first, "Heir to the Jedi" (January 2015) is set between ANH and ESB!

For those not keeping up, details are at https://www.facebook.com/starwarsbooks and http://starwars.com/news/disney-publish ... -line.html

STAR WARS: TARKIN
James Luceno
11/4/14

STAR WARS: HEIR TO THE JEDI
Kevin Hearne
January 2015

STAR WARS: LORDS OF THE SITH
Paul Kemp
March 2015

Interesting that all the EU becomes Legend status. So I'm not mistaken they aren't cannon at all? And the newer books become cannon from now on?

This is mainly to protect the coherency in the OT/post-OT era, so I'm still not 100% clear myself as to what extent it'll affect the SWTOR and other distant "past" eras. But yeah, certainly all the previously released books containing the main OT/PT characters seem to be non-Canon, aka-Legend. I think this is better than completely ignoring that the older novels and comics were ever written, and hoping they'll die away by natural attrition.

The above mentioned novel about Asajj and Vos has just recently come out - 'Dark Disciple' by Christie Golden.

Set for release on 4th Sept is 'Aftermath' by Chuck Wendig, the first in a trilogy of novels set after ROTJ. Penguin Random House has posted an excerpt on-line (readers of 'New Dawn' may recognise a familiar character name) -

*edit* looks like they removed the excerpt at the above link, but it's posted on StarWars.com -

'Battlefront: Twilight Company' gets a cover. Given the success of the Republic Commando novels, and X-wing novels, I'd wager that this novel centering around the Alliance military will go down well.
