EA's new Star Wars games

EA Star Wars games to draw inspiration from Arkham series
New CEO heaps praise on Warner Bros.

With its new line of Star Wars games, EA seeks to emulate the success of Warner Bros.' Batman: Arkham series.

Speaking with CNN, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the Arkham series had established a good model for AAA licensed games.

"What Warner Bros. did with Batman was take the core roots of that IP and manifest that inside the walls of Gotham City and delivered an interactive experience that had real ties to what you would see in the films and what you had read in the comics," Wilson said.

But what truly set the Arkham series apart was that it achieved this "while having its own life because it could provide such deep and more immersive storylines."

"When we look at the Star Wars properties that's how we're looking at it. We're not trying to build a game that replicates the storyline of any particular film."

EA signed an exclusive multi-year deal with Disney to develop Star Wars games in May 2013.

Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience "spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres", while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet, and online game categories.

Star Wars: Battlefront is in production at Battlefield development studio DICE. BioWare and Visceral are also known to be working on new Star Wars games.
Hmmm ... do we really want The Joker turning up in the middle of a Star Wars game?? ;)
(There is of course another Star Wars connection - Mark Hamill did voice The Joker in one of the animated Batman shows.)

Well.. EA is the devil of games companies.
But if they luck onto a decent build for being a jedi/sith then we'll get a series reusing that engine for 10 years but at least we'll have starwars games.

I just hope they jump away from console port titles which are more jumpy slashy "fun" than the tends to be harder pc exclusive.
The power fantasy of being a jedi/sith is great but you should have to work on it to be "the best" Jedi knight 2/outcast had a decent system which easy to grasp harder to master..

Another title like that would be perfect.
