I've just finished scanning up some old newspaper clippings to write up some memories of the Episode 1 movie release in New Zealand.

1999 certainly was a different time for Star Wars fans. When and where did everyone see that first prequel film?

Re: The Phantom Menace movie release
Well I was only twelve years old at the time - and still coming to terms with the fact that I was going to actually see a Star Wars film released in my lifetime...
Things sure have changed, huh?

I'm still simultaneously getting used to the whole movie-per-year thing, while wondering how we lived with the perception in the 2000s that the prequel trilogy would be the end of the Star Wars movie franchise.Archon Revuge wrote:...

Re: The Phantom Menace movie release
West AKl for PM, Toronto for AOTC, can't remember for ROTS!
Yeah I do remember thinking wow we'll never know what happens or what the last 3 films will be like ha ha.
I've been purposefully avoiding spoilers/ trailers anything this time round I want to go into the film as blank as possible

New Plymouth for TPM, Nagaizumi-Cho for AOTC, Wanganui for ROTS.
I was 11 when TPM came out, turned 12 that August. I remember nothing about the marketing other than attempting to download the trailer during one of my turns on the computer, and that my friends and I were super excited for the podracing. One friend and I even managed to squeeze it in to a science project we did about jet engines
