What colour is C3PO?

Is C3PO gold plated or brass? I was discussing this at work then went online and found most people think he was Gold plated by Padme as a gift for Anakin but someone somewhere said he was Brass plated and not gold.. anyone know?

I've only even seen him referred to in novels/text as "gold-coloured" or "gold-plated" (although I doubt it's intended to indicate actual gold plating, just a gold-coloured alloy). Han calls him "Goldenrod".
