D'oh! That's a lot of hope!

I do want to talk about the elephant in the room though, something that I haven't seen talked about bascially anywhere yet. The Death Star destroying Jedha, is it just me or is that the most blatant political statement about not using drones and the USA military I have seen in a film to date. I'm all for those people being taken down a peg but it does seem to have gone unremarked or perhaps I am reading to much into it.
I didn't interpret it as political personally (outside of the SW universe)...just saw it in the context of ANH, wherein they had to make the Death Star threatening at the early stage, but not use it's "full power" prior to Tarkin's Alderaan demonstration.
Fair enough to, we each take away something different from movies.

How awesome was that massive smashed stone statue of the Jedi though? I got chills so many times in that film.
As if just me or did that statue kind of look like Obi-won?

I thought it looked a little like Qui-Gon, as the idea of someone making a giant statue of him would probably annoy the venerable old Jedi.

Was also wondering about Vader's castle / planet. I looked kinda like Mustafar -but assume they wanted to keep it deliberately ambiguous, hence the lack of on-screen text.
...
Pablo Hidalgo confirms it is Mustafar - http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2016/12/ ... story.html

ok went and saw it again last night. Lots more detail jumped out at me this time round there's a lot going on in this film!

Hey did anyone notice Saw knock the intake pipe thingy off his chest plate when he first meets Bodhi?

I saw the ghost in about 6 or so shots they definitely made a point of showing this ship I wonder if its to support the Rebels TV show.

3rd act is by far the best part of the film but overall a great addition

well,i finally got a chance to catch my breath ,and sit down to watch this flick after my hectic pre xmas workload has been dealt with.
also perhaps my final oportunity to catch a movie with my eldest son, before he leaves the nest,so feeling kinda nostalgic before we even got into the movie.

the standouts for me were k2-so......had me feeling that i'd love to see more from this model of droid. what an amazing design, and what a groovy character.
i enjoyed the appropriate end for the heroine, and her companion. i was waiting for the usual hollywood drivel that normally accompanys this kind of scene,so was pleasantly surprised with the fitting end scene from these two.
kudos to the writers for 'not' going the lazy route.

the appearances of red leader and gold leader were a real treat. made me ask myself if i was watching their introduction,or rather, their re-introduction :D
enjoyed seeing female fighter pilots too.
very much enjoyed seeing vader, especially his bad-ass final scene, and leias appearance was epic,as was her line.
a fitting end to a very much appreciated two hour trip back into that galaxy far,far away.

hope everybody here has a safe and epic xmas, and a decent few days off.

take care.

I agree, I thought K-2 was a fantastic design, he is so striking and simplistic and fits well into the Star Wars universe. R2 is a helpful little box of tools, Threepio is a walking talking mannequin, easy to talk to as it is very un-aggressive.
K-2 however was all hulking and powerful weapon looking droid, with his height and slight slouch implying that he is looking down on others from a position of physical superiority.

On second thought this movie made us all live through Wash dying again so 2/10.
I'm not crying your crying.

Just had my second viewing (loved it even more, I think I spotted the "old" footage this time!) and it was my wife's first. She really enjoyed it.

Tarkin - my wife asked at one point "did they CGI his face?". There you go! She was very impressed, likewise with Leia.

Some naughty person has the final Vader scene on Youtube. I don't imagine it will stay there for long, but it did allow me to time the scene.

From the moment you hear the breathing until he turns off the lightsabre: 57 seconds.

Awesome!
