Thanks tk6375 I am definitely enjoying myself
Cheers MG nice that you are reading some expression in the face I was a bit worried that his eyes/ face was a bit 'dead' but I feel like he's a good blend of mean and silly
Well i'm starting to get the various pieces in a first coat of primer so I can see where to start sanding and bogging and sanding and bogging.....and sanding and bogging and sanding and bogging.

That is looking so cool, Fantastic work on detailing so far.
Is this a kind of look and see how it goes project or will you be doing more possibly?

Re: New project - Monkey lizard!
Hey Badges yeah I pretty much planning on taking it through to paint stage and I've no doubt I'll end up molding it to! There are just to many poses to do with this guys, we've already had a bit of a laugh with it at work... like the fallen over drunk pose or the holding a big knife pose etc etc etc
I'm a bit stuck with the eyes at the moment so I am going to order some bigger ones to see if that helps with the overall look

you must be almost at the stage where you could open up a special effects custom shop for this sort of stuff.

yeah a pupperteered or animatronic lizard would be AWESOME. But first things first, hard casts, soft semi-posable casts then MAYBE articulated lizards

Re: New project - Monkey lizard!
small update. I've got the head, tail, body and legs ready for the mold. They are SHINY and YELLOW and that means READY FOR MOLD
The arms are a wee bit away from finishing. Then on to the ears, fur and mohawk. I'm going to sculpt everything to keep it close to the animated series and so it's less like a toy

Re: New project - Monkey lizard!
hi all just a few more wips, not terribly good pics I'm afraid. Beer bottle is for scale.
I've started work on the ears and the neck feathers. My plan is to have most of the neck feathers as one piece with a few extra feathers to be glued on afterwards to give the feathers more body and a more 3d feel.
Overall I'm still happy with how the lizard is shaping up. I've got a bit of a niggle about the beak position but I'll wait till the new eyes arrive before making any drastic changes.
Still a lot of finishing to do

Sorry, but you pretty much wrote yourself into a "Yeah, right!" joke right there. I know it's obvious, but ...cannot ...resist...oota goota wrote:...Beer bottle is for scale...
Seriously though, monkey-lizard is looking great. There is a lot more detail, and a lot more in the way of small components, than one might think. He's going to be an impressive piece when finished.
