Keisha Castle-Hughes has become the youngest ever Oscar nominee for best actress, for her role as Pai Apirana in ‘Whale Rider’. Read the full story in the New Zealand Herald.

In a second NZ Herald article, there are cheeky claims that the Oscar nominee is an Australian. Keisha’s mother confirms that she was technically born “on March 24, 1990, in Donnybrook, 210km south of Perth”, but left Australia when she was 4 (“Not many people know about the Australian link … I don’t know how much she remembers of Australia”, says her father), and has lived in New Zealand since.
